Retained Search - CFO
Listed Long Income UK Real Estate Fund

An Asia head quartered Asset Management group was launching a UK main market listed, long income Real Estate fund. The CFO would be the first executive hire in London, reporting to the CEO in Singapore, and would hold responsibility for capital raising, investor relations and marketing, listing the fund, finance, FCA compliance, HR and IT. 

We began with a research campaign to produce a matrix map of the asset and investment management; property; debt and capital markets; and investment banking sectors. A long list was then provided for consultation with the client along with compensation benchmarking and analysis of competitor organisational structures.

Following consultation, we ran a targeted headhunting campaign alongside a supplementary advertised campaign. Key deliverables included presenting the client organisation and brand to the market, ensuring a positive candidate experience, and detailed reporting back to the client.

Our shortlist was presented to the client, including comprehensive summaries of candidate histories, fit for the organisation and viability. Additionally, we provided behavioural and competency assessments as well as psychometric testing.

After an eight-week process, a candidate was identified. Strand Hill advised the client on remuneration and structure of the compensation package. We managed the offer negotiation and, once accepted, created an onboarding plan for the client.

Compensation Report
Real Estate Investment Manager

Retained by the COO of a privately owned UK real estate investment manager to provide a compensation report and review of its organisational structure, specifically the investment and finance divisions.

 

We began by compiling live market data on base salaries, carry and bonus structures, pension and benefits (including flexible working and hours). The data was collated from a wide range of sources including surveying senior HR, recruitment and department heads across the market, utilising statistical data provided by McKinsey, Deloitte, RICS and LinkedIn and surveying active and passive market participants to gather sentiment on pay and job satisfaction.

Our report was completed in six weeks and provided detailed commentary across each specific job role and level of seniority within the client organisation. The client acted upon the findings of our report to restructure its investment team and, in doing so, created two new roles that Strand Hill then successfully recruited.
